Following an outbreak of kennel sickness affecting a number of Central Park trainers their Friday evening meeting has been cancelled.
Roger Cearns, Central Park Promoter said, “Kennel Sickness could not have hit us at a worse time but the welfare of our greyhounds is of paramount importance and for that reason we have cancelled our Friday meeting so that we are not putting any undue pressure on our trainers to run their dogs to meet our racing commitments.
Dan Homewood, Central Park Racing Manager said, Dan Brabon and Tony Collett have been worst affected and the majority of their greyhounds have been taken off the graded strength. This obviously puts greater demands on us to deliver the weekly race programme but nevertheless the welfare of our dogs is the priority and any dog showing signs of illness will not run”
